Jake Meisler

Jake has been a part of the game of basketball for over three decades. In his adolescent years, he participated on every school team at Margaretta's Bogart Elementary in Castalia, OH, beginning in the 4th grade when basketball became structured in the district. In middle school, his team saw great success with back to back championship seasons at the 7th and 8th grade level. During those years, he was also part of an area AAU travel basketball team, head coached by Steve Poe Sr. His team, Brady Electric, traveled to dozens of cities throughout the Midwest over the next two springs, and claimed over ten championships during those two years. After middle school, Jake entered his freshman season for the Margaretta Polar Bears, and played half the year on Varsity in 2000. From 2001 to 2004, Jake continued his Varsity campaign in Castalia where he was a part of four Sectional championship games, and two District tournament appearances. All four years of Jake's high school basketball career were coached by Troy Roth, the winningest coach in Margaretta's history. Heading into the summer of his senior season, Jake was named a Blue Chip Top 60 player in the state of Ohio by national recruiter Rick Bolus and his High Potential Basketball Camp out of Georgetown, KY. In his final high school season as a Polar Bear, Jake led his team to a league (Sandusky Bay Conference) championship, and was named the conference's Most Valuable Player in 2004. He and his teammates cut down nets as Sectional Champions in the 2003-2004 Ohio state basketball tournament. Jake was named 2nd Team All-Ohio that season, and 1st Team All-District.

After high school, Jake continued his future in basketball by playing the next two seasons as a Forward for the NCAA Division III Capital Crusaders in Columbus, OH. There he was part of a rich basketball tradition under Head Coach and former NBA (Phoenix Suns) draft pick Damon Goodwin. As a freshman starter for the Crusaders, Jake was tabbed as the conference's (Ohio Athletic Conference) Rookie of the Year in 2005. He started every game as a sophomore and was the team's second leading scorer and rebounder that season. He was also 1st Team Academic All-OAC his entire tenure as a Crusader, and appeared on the Dean's List all five years on campus at Capital.

In 2009 after graduating and receiving his BA in Business Administration, Jake chose to return to his hometown and become a volunteer assistant under his former high school coach Troy Roth. Meisler would spend the next two seasons on the bench, providing input to Coach Roth, his staff, and the players of his alumni. In 2012 he was named the Head Varsity Assistant for current Margaretta Head Coach Steve Keller. Coach Meisler continues his role as Varsity Assistant for Coach Keller today.

In the spring of 2012, Coach Meisler formed what is known today as Ohio Buckets -- an elite AAU (travel) basketball organization headquartered in his home, high school district of Castalia, OH. When asked why he decided to start Ohio Buckets, Jake's answer was simple: "I felt like there was a need for it. There are plenty of places to play spring basketball around here, but I'm not sure how many of them genuinely care about the kids getting better, and teaching them the importance of competing at the highest level possible. I eat, sleep and breath basketball so when our Varsity season comes to an end, I'm still able to teach and coach young players all throughout the spring. Its an incredibly rewarding feeling."

When not working, playing, or coaching basketball, Jake loves spending time with his family. He is extremely close with his mother, father, sister and brother, as well as his two young nephews. He also enjoys watching his favorite sports teams, boating, and hanging out with friends during his free time.

Toby Miller

Toby brings an incredible amount of energy and familiarity to Ohio Buckets. He began his basketball career attending every youth camp offered by Margaretta during his childhood years. He then joined a 4th grade traveling team named "Castalia Hoops," and as 4th graders played in a 5th grade division. The team finished their inaugural season 10-10. The following two seasons, Toby's team would be anything but average though. The Castalia Hoops cruised to a 22-0 record and won the league championship in both 5th and 6th grade while Toby served as the team's starting point guard each season. Toby followed up his travel ball by becoming the starting point guard for the 7th grade Margaretta Polar Bears. That year, the Bears went 17-1 and were crowned the league (SBC) champions.

Toby entered his high school basketball career at Margaretta in 2010 under Varsity Head Coach Troy Roth and Varsity Assistant Jake Meisler. As a Freshman point guard, he helped lead his JV team to an impressive 15-5 record. His Sophomore season under Steve Keller Jr, Toby was promoted to the Varsity team where the Polar Bears finished just under the .500 mark. Toby was named Margaretta's starting point guard his Junior and Senior seasons, and also tagged team captain. As a senior, Toby received SBC league recognition and was named to the SBC All-Academic team. He graduated high school 8th in his class with a 3.90 GPA.

Coach Miller is the son of former Danbury High School and 100-win coach Joe Miller. His father is the winningest coach in Danbury Boys Basketball history. Toby made his coaching debut during the 2015-2016 season at the middle school level for Margaretta where he coached the Bears 6th grade boys to a 15-5 record in his first season. Soon after, Toby joined Meisler in the Ohio Buckets organization where he has been an assistant and head coach for several springs. Under Meisler and Miller, the 2016 Buckets finished their 6th grade season with a 22-4 record and four championships. Toby's success on the hardwood landed him as Margaretta's JV Assistant Coach beginning in the 2016-2017 season.

When Toby isn't coaching or playing basketball, he is likely doing copious amounts of homework, or studying. He is a student at The Ohio State University, and pursuing a degree in Education. Toby was honored on BGSU's Dean's List each of his first two semesters on campus, and is currently maintaining a 3.80 GPA. He loves golf and just about any other outdoor activities. Miller enjoys watching sports and movies, reading, and spending time with friends and family. Toby is a proud member of the Bucket's Family.
